- The Financial Services Agency of Japan (FSA) plans to strengthen the risk screening process for trading platforms

Japan’s financial regulator, the Financial Services Agency (FSA), will fortify the process of registration screening for cryptocurrency exchanges, local media outlet The Japan Times reports September 2. The FSA has ungraded the registration process, revising the Payment Services Act — enforced since April 2017 — in order to “to see whether they [crypto exchanges] are properly conducting risk management,” sources told The Japan Times.

- Bittrex cryptocurrency exchange buys 10% stake in Palladium

Bittrex, one of the top cryptocurrency exchanges worldwide, has recently invested in Malta-based blockchain company Palladium, local news outlet Times of Malta reports September 2. The U.S.-based Bittrex, now the 18th top crypto exchange by total average trade volume, has bought a 10 percent share in Palladium. In July, Palladium had announced plans to distribute $150 million in tokens in the world’s “first” Initial Convertible Coin Offering (ICCO) in partnership with Bittrex and Unikrn eSports bookmaker, scheduled to begin on July 25.

- Thailand Anti-Money Laundering Agency to introduce crypto wallet

Thailand’s anti-money laundering agency is considering sealing a loophole that has seen cybercriminals face every other consequence for their actions except have their digital assets confiscated. According to the secretary of Thailand’s Anti-Money Laundering Office (AMLO), Witthaya Neetitham, the government agency is planning on setting up its own cryptocurrency wallet for the purposes of tackling crime relating to bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies.

- Japanese City Tsukuba Trials Blockchain-Based Voting System

The Japanese city of Tsukuba, north of Tokyo, has recently tested a voting system based on blockchain technology, local newspaper The Japan Times wrote. The city, which The Japan Times described as a “center for scientific research,” held the voting trial in late August. It was reported earlier, in order to vote the participants had to have My Number Card — a 12-digit ID number issued to all citizens of Japan including foreign residents, introduced in 2015.

- Deutsche Börse creates a specialized blockchain unit

The world's largest stock exchange Deutsche Börse announced the creation of a special unit that will deal with blockchain technology and cryptocurrency assets.

- Bittrex crypto exchange delisted Bitcoin Gold

The Bittrex trading platform decided to withdraw Bitcoin Gold from the auction. This is due to differences over compensation for losses from the May attack of 51%.
